You can generate a document with pre-defined content and formatting based on a template of your creation. You can insert specific information from your monday.com board using ‘placeholders’ in the document.

This is how you create a template:
- In your Google Drive, create a new Google Doc or create a copy of an existing doc; this will be your template. You can also upload a Microsoft Word document to your Google Drive and convert it to a Google Doc.
- Prepare the content and formatting of the template just as you would a normal document
- You need to indicate where DocuGen should insert data from your board. You do this by inserting ‘placeholders’ in your document. Here is our guide to DocuGen placeholders.
Now you are ready to use your template simply by clicking on the “Generate document” button.
If other users will be generating documents using the same template, make sure the document’s sharing settings have the following setting selected: “Viewers and commenters can see the option to download, print, and copy”. Otherwise, the other users will not be able to generate documents based on your template.
