Step 2: Insert the column value placeholder

To insert a single value from a specific column, use the <<column_firstrow:COLUMN LABEL>> placeholder anywhere in your Google Doc template, where “COLUMN LABEL” should be replaced with the name of your column.


The <<column_firstrow>> placeholder will insert the value from the first row it finds in your board. You can easily control which row should be used using the built-in filter: just click on the “Filter” button at the top of the DocuGen view, then select the specific row you want to include in your document from the “Name” column in the filter dialog box. Special Case: if you want to insert the value from the very first column on your board (which does not have a name), use “Item” for the column name: <<column_firstrow:Item>>
