Template Placeholders

Check out our new two-step wizard to help you find the right placeholders for your templates:

Placeholders can be located anywhere in your Google document and are not case-sensitive. For example, if the template includes placeholders for <<Board_Name>> or <<board_name>> or <<BOARD_NAME>>, they will all give the same result.

With the exception of <<table_start>>, all placeholders will produce one value when generating a document. For example, <<user_name>> will be replaced by the user’s full name.

<<table_start>> is a special placeholder because it tells DocuGen where to insert the board items in the form of a table (rows and columns, not just a single value like other placeholders).

Note that the column styling in the Settings tab apply to the <<table_start>> placeholder, but not to the other placeholders. If you want to style the other placeholders, simply apply the desired styling on the template used by DocuGen.

Visit our Template Gallery for sample templates using placeholders. You can also visit our Tutorials for step-by-step instructions.
